ABOUT SPRINT CONSULTING
SPRINT Consulting was founded by David Browne MSc MA BSc(Hons) BTech in Ireland in 2017.
David Browne is a professional pilot with over 30 years experience in aviation. He holds commercial pilot licences in both aeroplanes and helicopters. He currently flies the AW139 helicopter as a senior aircraft captain in a multi-crew capacity, and has vast experience in helicopter emergency medical support, fire-fighting, counter-terrorism, VIP flying, and police aviation. He is also a senior manager in aviation management, with experience leading safety management, operations management and training.
In 2017 David graduated with Distinction from Trinity College Dublin (the University of Dublin) with a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Managing Risk and System Change, achieving first class honours. His major research thesis involved the development of an operationally effective, continuously improving organisational safety risk management framework, incorporating principles from High Reliability Organisations, lean and Safety-II.
In addition, David also completed a Master of Arts (MA) degree with first class honours in Maynooth University (National University of Ireland) in 2019, with his research thesis focusing on the practical use of Resilience Engineering theory to improve organisational performance, including safety performance.
David also holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree, BSc(Hons) in Management from Dublin Institute of Technology (Technological University Dublin), graduating in 2014 with first class honours. His research thesis for the management degree concerned the use of the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) in the management of aviation safety. David is also a qualified civil engineer from the University of Ulster (Jordanstown), graduating in 1998 with a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering.
In 2022, he completed a post-graduate certificate with distinction in Teaching and Learning from the South-East Technological University at Carlow, in order to further enhance his competence as a high quality instructor.
Supplementing these academic qualifications and backing up his operational and management experience, David has also undertaken training in areas such as aircraft accident investigation through the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in the USA, and he holds certificates in Safety Management Systems and Human Factors from the University of Southern California, a certificate in remotely piloted aircraft (drone) systems safety from the Southern California Safety Institute, was trained by the French Institute for Aviation Safety in risk management, is a trained Lead Auditor from Nigel Bauer & Associates International Quality Improvement in the UK, and has completed training in Major Incident Medical Management and Support with the National Ambulance Service in Ireland.
David also has considerable experience across Europe conducting compliance auditing of safety management systems for various air operators, MROs, ATOs and design organisations. David is also a lead instructor with the Joint Aviation Authorities Training Organisation in Amsterdam, having delivered safety and risk related courses with JAATO since 2019.
David has delivered training and consulting services to numerous organisations and thoroughly enjoys developing excellent professional relationships with all whom he works with.
